Earth Hour is an annual event that includes hundreds of millions of people, businesses, and organizations across the globe, making it the largest environmental event in the world! Earth Hour raises awareness for climate change and global warming.
“Global warming is the greatest threat facing our planet today. A warming planet alters weather patterns, water supplies, seasonal growth for plants and a sustainable way of life for us, and the world’s wildlife. Climate change has already started, but it’s not too late to take action. There’s still time for us all to be part of the solution.” EarthHour.org.
Participation is as easy as turning off your lights and electronics from 8:30pm-9:30pm on Saturday March 31st. However, you don’t have to stop there. Spreading the word to your employees and business partners is encouraged. Be sure to explain to your customers that you will be participating.
Please visit EarthHour.org for facts about climate change, specific events worldwide, and forms and materials for your business to participate. They even have examples of letters to notify your suppliers, employees, and local government of your participation.
Don’t forget that the message of Earth Hour should continue after the event. Find ways for your business to reduce its carbon footprint and energy use year-round.
