Each year people and cities from around the world
honor our planet by turning out their lights for one symbolic hour—-EARTH HOUR. The event, sponsored by World Wildlife Fund, began in Sydney Australia in 2007 when 2 million people switched off their lights to support environmentally sustainable action. The hour, from March 31st 8:30-9:30pm,is now observed by 135 countries and territories!
In last weeks newsletter we took the time to announce our 100 Cities for Changecampaign.
We aim to spark a progressive movement to unite 100,000 businesses in 100 cities across the nation in an effort to promote sustainable economic, social, and environmental business practices. The 100 Cities for Change movement encourages sustainable progress and specifically undertakes measures to advance businesses and empower
society. By uniting organizations we aim to create a community that provides a platform for advocacy and networking between members that enables us to support one another. Represent your city and be a part of the change!
In April 2012, top environmentally-minded business leaders and the green movement’s brightest thinkers will convene for Fortune magazine’s fifth Brainstorm GREEN conference.
The Brainstorm GREEN community is a diverse cross-section of Fortune 500 CEOs, leaders from the environmental movement, senior government officials, and provocative thinkers. Previous participants have included
Sir Richard Branson of Virgin, former President Clinton, Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, REI CEO Sally Jewell, Wal-Mart’s Lee Scott, and many other leaders and visionaries.
