Your company or organization is invited to compete in the iCommute Rideshare 2011 Corporate Challenge. Through the Corporate Challenge, companies encourage their employees to replace solo commutes with a new, more sustainable commute choice. It’s a great opportunity to try commuter benefits that can save employees money and time, help reduce stress, and improve health and morale.
There are many ways to implement commuter benefit programs that can save your company money. Join the many San Diego companies that qualify for tax savings by offering employees a commuter benefits program. The Corporate Challenge is a great way to get started!
Starting October 3, companies in similar size categories will compete in the Corporate Challenge by encouraging employees to try carpooling, walking, vanpooling, biking, teleworking, or taking public transit. Participation can help companies meet corporate green goals, decrease parking and workspace demands, and reduce traffic congestion.
Participation in the Corporate Challenge is easy with the Corporate Challenge eToolkit. This digital toolkit includes sample e-mail blasts, fliers, posters, and other materials to market the Corporate Challenge to employees. Additionally, registered companies can have the iCommute staff lead a Lunch and Learn to teach employees about the many commute choices and resources available to them.
From October 3 through 31, employees who try an alternative to driving alone and log their trips at 511sd.com/iCommute will be automatically entered for a chance to win prizes.
The companies with the highest percentage of participation in their size category win. Winning companies will receive a commemorative plaque, recognition in a print ad in a regional newspaper and on the iCommute Web site, and mention in a SANDAG press release. Last year’s winning companies were QUALCOMM, SAIC, La Costa Glen, AECOM, and the California Center for Sustainable Energy.
Registration for the Corporate Challenge is open now through September 16 at 511sd.com/iCommute. For more information, please visit 511sd.com/iCommute or call 511 and say “iCommute.”
The Corporate Challenge is part of Rideshare Week, a nationally recognized event held the first week in October to promote commute alternatives to driving alone. The event is promoted locally by iCommute, managed by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) as part of the regional 511 transportation information and demand management program.
