The Florida chapter of the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce invites you to experience firsthand the creative genius of our guest speaker, John Bradburn, General Motors (GM) Global Waste Reduction Manager. Join us on Thursday, November 10th, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the OCFL Agricultural Extension Office, which is located on 6021 S Conway Road, Orlando, FL 32812.
Bradburn is the receiver of the 2015 President’s Volunteer Award for his lifetime of service and efforts to inspire youth for sustainable thinking. He will share his passion and creative genius that have helped numerous businesses move away from the take-make-dispose model to implement a more circular economy in sustainable, yet cost-effective methods— all to the benefit of their workers and environment. His dedication and hard work has inspired hundreds of GM employees.
Thanks to Bradburn, dubbed the “McGyver of waste”, over 100 GM facilities worldwide are now landfill free—that means your family is sending more trash to landfill in one day than all those GM facilities combined! Bradburn’s philosophy of waste as simply “a resource out of place” has also driven him to rescue, reuse and recycle everything, such as:
- Old battery covers as nesting boxes for endangered ducks
- Scrap auto material to provide the homeless with insulated coats
- Oil-soaked booms for car parts
- GM’s paint sludge as reused pallets
If you’re a business, Bradburn will convince you that there is a solid business case for sustainability. You can’t help but respond to his call to re-imagine, re-prioritize and build a “sustainability mindset” within your business. If you’re an environmental enthusiast, you will be inspired by John’s commitment to transforming a huge auto manufacturer from high waste to zero waste. This event is for anyone who is interested in sustainability!
