Rear Admiral L. R. “Len” Hering, Sr. will be a featured speaker and panelist at Sustainable Solutions, on November 14th, 2012 at UC San Diego. The event will bring together sustainable industry pioneers, such as Hering, to share their unique solutions for achieving long-term sustainability in small business and throughout the rest of the United States.
Rear Admiral Hering, Sr. retired after over thirty years of dedicated service. He commissioned through the NROTC Scholarship Program from State University of New York Maritime College in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and Oceanography. He has also earned a Master of Science degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and a Master of Science degree in Business Management from Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I..
Rear Admiral Hering’s sea and shore assignments are as impressive and thorough as his breadth of educational accomplishments. He spent much of the last ten years fighting for programs and support efforts to better the lives of those who serve. He has been recognized as a leader in sustainability and has received numerous prestigious state, local, and federal awards for his efforts to ensure the Navy is responsible and accountable for its environmental impact, as well as its taxpayer-provided resources. Hering also serves as an Advisor to Biozoil International, an organization dedicated to formulating and processing green, renewable oils, including algal and plant product development.
Sustainable Solutions is the second collaboration between the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce and UCSD’s Jacobs School of Engineering. The event is open to community members, business owners, and students.
