The U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce (USGCC), a national non-profit organization dedicated to empowering businesses to achieve economic, social and environmental sustainability, today announced the appointment of Michelle Thatcher as its Chief Executive Officer.
“Michelle’s experience and effective leadership in non-profit management and sustainability make her an excellent fit with the goals of the USGCC”, says Irene M. Six Ways to Decrease Your Waste This Holiday Season
|
Another holiday season is upon us, and while it is a time of celebration, it is also important to remember the amplification of waste that tends to be created. Here are some simple, helpful tips to make it through the holiday season without causing too much damage:
1. If you receive a present in a bag, save the bag; you can always reuse it at a later time. All you need to do is take off the “To” and “From” tag.
2. Wrap your gifts with newspaper.
3. For your warm beverages, take your own travel mug to work to use one less paper cup.
4. If your office space decorates for the holidays, don’t forget to unplug any light decor before leaving work.
5. Be the person to bring a vegetarian dish to the table, learn a new recipe!
6. A colder month should not mean a constantly-active heater. Bundle up during the day to avoid keeping the heater on and monitor how high you set the temperature.
Happy green holidays!
