U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce Announces New President
—Former California Center for Sustainability Executive Director, Irene Stillings, Named U.S. Green
Chamber President—
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (October xx, 2012) – Today, the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce (USGCC) announced the
appointment of Irene M. Stillings as its president. Stillings has over 35 years of energy industry experience and is the former
executive director of the non-profit California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE), an organization devoted to creating a
sustainable energy future, and through her leadership the CCSE became a statewide resource, growing from 7 to 90 employees
providing educational, technical, financial services and energy programs to residents, businesses and municipalities in
California.
“Irene brings a tremendous level of expertise to USGCC that will help further the Chamber’s mission and strengthen our
core services, and as a team we can better serve our members’ interests,” said David Steel, CEO of the U.S. Green Chamber
of Commerce. “Our focus has always been to empower businesses and communities to create environmentally friendly and
sustainable business practices, and Irene’s leadership will be instrumental to our success as we continue to grow and evolve.”
As president, Stillings’ responsibilities will include formalizing the USGCC’s vision on energy initiatives, interfacing with
key influencers, stakeholders and policymakers, as well as leading the business community toward full participation in the
green revolution.

In recognition of her many accomplishments and strong leadership role, she was installed on the Wall of Fame in the National
Women’s Hall of Fame located in New York. In California, she was honored as a Climate Champion by the American Lung
Association, a 2012 Key San Diego Influential by the Daily Transcript and received proclamations honoring her service to the
community from the Mayor of San Diego, the California State Senate and San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
Prior to working as the executive director of CCSE, she held various positions at New York State Electric & Gas Corporation,
including vice president of marketing, customer service and communications; vice president of business development at
ConneXt, Inc. a software company providing premier products and services to the energy industry; and director of customer
care at Navigate Consulting, Inc., a multi-nation firm.
Stillings is currently a board member of the national Marketing Executives Conference and Environmental Entrepreneurs
(E2), and represented CCSE on the Energy Working Group of SANDAG, City of San Diego Sustainable Energy Advisory
Board, San Diego Regional Sustainable Partnership and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Policy Committee.
Stillings received her bachelor’s degree, Magna cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Rochester and has her
master’s degree from Syracuse University.
