U.S. Green Chamber President Irene M. Stillings will perform moderation duties at Sustainable Solutions, a panelist event on November 14th, 2012 at UC San Diego. Sustainable Solutions will bring together innovators in sustainable practices to share their unique solutions for making long-term sustainability a reality in homes, small businesses, and throughout the United States.
Irene M. Stillings has over thirty five years of energy industry experience and holds numerous awards for her leadership in the adoption of energy efficient practices. As the former Executive Director of the California Center for Sustainable Energy, Irene lead the organization in its growth from seven to seventy five employees dedicated to creating a sustainable energy future.
Stillings’ expertise includes: energy efficiency, renewable energy, alternative transportation, solar rebates, California Solar Initiative, Energy Upgrade California, climate change, energy advisory services, energy policy and strategy, and more. Irene is currently a board member of the National Marketing Executives Conference, Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), San Diego Regional Sustainable Partnership, and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Policy Committee.
As U.S. Green Chamber President, Irene’s responsibilities include formalizing the USGCC’s vision on energy initiatives, interfacing with key influencers, stakeholders and policymakers, as well as leading the business community toward full participation in the green revolution. She says, “I have always believed that doing positive work in the community is good for business.” Irene will guide the discussion of Sustainable Solutions to cover topics ranging from local and immediate practices, to national solutions for lasting sustainability efforts and adoption.
Sustainable Solutions is the second collaboration between the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce and UCSD’s Jacobs School of Engineering. The event is open to community members, business owners, and students.
