One out of every four jobs in solar energy is held by a resident of California, reports the Los Angeles Times. The total number of jobs in the industry for California is four times greater than Colorado, the next runner-up. Not only are there currently over 25,000 jobs but experts are predicting that the clean energy industry will continue to grow at a much more rapid pace than the overall U.S. economy, meaning more jobs created in the near future.
Nationally, employment in all parts of the solar industry, including manufacturing, installation, residential, commercial and large-scale power generation, grew 6.8% in the 12-month period that ended in August. Overall U.S. job growth was less than 1% for the same period, a census conducted by Solar Foundation said.
Growth is expected to accelerate 24%, creating 24,000 jobs, over the next year, based on a survey of solar employers.
Top 3 States ranked by the number of solar industry jobs:

2. Colorado 6,186
