Save the date — Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 18, 2012!
Bike to Work Day is a nationally recognized event celebrated annually on the third Friday in May. And because May is National Bike Month, San Diegans will have opportunities to participate in cycling activities all month long! Bike to Work 2012 supports bicycling as a viable, environmentally friendly, cost-saving commute choice.
Register today! Those who register for Bike to Work Day will be automatically entered to win one of many great prizes, including the grand prize — a new bicycle! In addition, every time you bike to work in May, and log your trip in TripTracker at 511sd.com/iCommute, you will be entered for chances to win additional prizes. Register for Bike to Work Day to be automatically eligible for these weekly prize drawings in May. Weekly prizes include San Diego Zoo and Safari Park passes, spa gift certificates, free Car2Go memberships, and much more.
Grab your bike and rally to ride Pit stops offer fun breathers for new and experienced cyclists on Bike to Work Day. Pit stops are places where riders can rest and pick up FREE t-shirts, water, snacks, and encouragement. If you or your company would like to host a pit stop, please complete the online registration form by April 13, 2012. iCommute provides the goodies for registered pit stops to distribute, making it easy and affordable for your company to participate.
Ride with your co-workers! Another way to participate in Bike to Work 2012 is the third annual Corporate Challenge. The month-long Corporate Challenge encourages companies and organizations to compete within their size category for the highest percentage of bike ridership during the month of May. Participating can help your organization meet corporate green goals, build team camaraderie, demonstrate community involvement, or simply free up valuable parking space. Registered companies can also receive FREE bicycle safety and education classes provided by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition.
Sign up for the Bike to Work 2012 Corporate Challenge today! The registration deadline is Friday, April 13, 2012. Winning companies will receive a commemorative plaque, recognition in a print ad in a regional newspaper and on the iCommute Web site, and mention in a SANDAG press release.
