With less than a week until Election Day, the race for Solana Beach City Council is heating up. Solana Beach has special meaning to USGCC, since our organization was founded there in 2009. The City has a history of being environmentally progressive; the City’s mission statement includes a focus on environmental sustainability. However, Solana Beach is at a crossroads. Development interest is strong. Protection of Solana Beach’s unique small-town character, coastal resources, and species-rich lagoon will require experience, commitment, and creative solutions. While some of the other candidates are easily swayed, Peter has the skills to stand up to powerful special interests. “I am committed to keeping Solana Beach the neighborhood-friendly, environmentally conscious city many of us have come to love,” says Peter. He is concerned that the city could go backward, depending on the outcome of the election: “Some of the candidates in the race could very possibly take the City in a different direction.”
Peter Zahn is dedicated to working with all businesses to engage them to become sustainable and to take part in the Green Economy. Solana Beach is no exception. Peter has advocated before the City Council to encourage business growth and opportunities in sustainability.
