The NBA has adopted several sustainable initiatives of its own called NBA Green. Under this program, superstars from around the country such as Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, and Steve Nash participate in local community green activities such as planting trees and promoting awareness of environmentally friendly initiatives. Players often work with Boys and Girls Clubs in the community at special events including park refurbishments that encourage children to play outside.
