The U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce is looking for an Advocacy Assistant to help establish its new advocacy department scheduled to launch in January 2012.
The U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce is a national nonprofit organization that empowers businesses to achieve economic, environmental, and social sustainability. The Chamber advocates for its members on policies that affect the entire business community and remains focused on supporting sustainable businesses to ensure innovation, job creation, energy efficiency, and a brighter economic future.
Major Responsibilities/Activities include; Assist the Advocacy and Government Relations Director in designing and implementing the structures and policies for the new advocacy department Help identify and develop major USGCC projects aligned with the departments strategic goals Research and drafting of media releases, opinion editorials and policy briefs/positions on upcoming legislation and issues at a county, state and national level The desired candidate will have a background in business and/or law with an obvious passion for the environment, have excellent communication and writing skills and the ability to research issues and legislation within set time frames.
Previous experience in government and politics is important but not essential. This is an unpaid position but a terrific career building opportunity with the potential in the future to become a full/part time paid position.
